S.O.S.!
HELP! My scanners stopped working!

It stopped working about a month or 2 ago. Every time I try to scan something, my scanner starts up like it always does, the lights turn on and it jiggles a bit, getting ready to scan. But before its suppose to scan, it stops and a box comes up:

ScanGear SC
Release the lock switch, detach USB cable, and reconnect.
Scanner driver will be closed.

The only thing I can do when that box comes up is to click "OKAY" and I do but when I do another box comes up and says:

CanonScan Toolbox
Unable to open TWAIN source
Please check connection
Then re-start Toolbox

I've done what the first box told me to do, over and over and over again. There IS a lock switch under the scanner, but its always been in the UNLOCKed position, but nothing gets it to work. The other box, I have no idea what to do. I'm not sure what a TWAIN source is or how to re-start the Toolbox properly. I've tried uninstalling then reinstalling the program to my scanner but it just says the same thing after. I've also checked the guide but it just says the same thing the boxes says, so.

My scanner isn't at all old, either. I've had it for about 3 to 4 years, tops. Its make is a CanonScan LiDE 20. Everything seems to be working its just WONT scan! My dad says replacing it wouldn't be a problem, but I don't want to toss it if there is a way to get it to work.

Since alot of you guys use scanners too, I was wondering if you guys had any ideas or clues as to why its not working or how to fix it. Information would help ALOT! Please Please PLEASE leave some advice!
