I went and made myself sad faced by looking at other area's wanted lists and seeing stuff for programmers in Boise or Salt Lake whereas here remains stagnant.
I wish I could get up the effort to try Guru or something but shit, guys, after working apx 40 hours a week it's like it's suuuuuuuch a hassle to do. Which is my own damn fault, but really.
I should do something though now that I'm in a coding mood. I think I may add art blog to my front page or something.
Or just sit and read more Deadpool. Shit it's fucking hot again. Argh.
I should update my layout here. ILY Nathan but I need some different zazz up in this place. Question is what to replace him with.

So ... what was up with Bastille Day this year?
I mean, not in France; obviously there were parades and fireworks and stuff. I mean in the U.S. of A. I never remember this much attention being paid to Bastille Day outside of 'Learning about the culture is just as important as learning the language' bloody useless French class. Did I just never notice it before? Is it a California thing?* Or is it, as I cynically suspect, because we have a new administration and thus it's OK to not hate France anymore so anyone with an international perspective is celebrating this by overcompensating?

- • You do NOT have to answer any questions about any of your pictures if you don't want to. You can make them as mysterious as you like. Or you can explain them away as much as you like.

I really want to produce the_BEST colouring this time and it wasn't possible with the shitty scan that the RAW came out in. I had to re-lineart it and maaan it took so long.
Slowly starting to colour it in now and thought I'd post progress shots. Just why the hell not? >з>
Kizaru's face alone took 40 minutes XD Why the hell so long, you ask? Dunno, it doesn't really look that great...

| MemcacheD Update |

Just wanted to let everyone know, that a new version of MemcacheD has been released. We will be rolling this out to the memcache nodes during the week of July 20th to 24th. This should have very little impact on the stability of the website; however users may see a slight increase in load times as the cache is re-populated with entries.
The software has been tested and verified to be working just fine with the application; so we perceive this to be a very minimal risk in regards to updating, and the stability of the website.

Happy thing! Tomorrow is my and Nick's 8th anniversary! Or (as I can hear my mom telepathically point out) it would be if we had bothered to get married. I still say "anniversary" becuase its the shortest appropriate word, even if "8th anniversary" makes me feel ooooooold! But not at the same time because, hell, I'm still only 26!
Happy and strange thing! In March I did a short interview for the Chinese magasine Fantasy Art, because they were interested in publishing a few pages of Fey Winds in their April issue. (no, I'm not 100% sure why either huhuhuhu) They printed the first 8 pages of the comic, with chinese text, and a short interview that worked out to a page of me basically blabbering XD I just got a printed copy last week, so here is a scan: it's awesome and weird to see at the same time XD
I also got my yearly review at work, it went great, so that's another happy thing! The people who work at my job are getting steadily awesomer and awesomer (I mean major league awesome), and the work to done is going in that direction too, so there's less and less illustration/cartoon stuff to be done and more and more big realistic concept art projects. Which would be great.... if I had the technical chops to do realistic concept art. But I don't... at least, not yet!
So if I want work, I'm going to have to learn XD I've started doing colour studies based on photos (eyeballing, no colour picker). Crits appreciated, even though this is only about the second time ever that I've tried something like this and I know I have a ways to go! :) (This ended up taking more time than I wanted to spend on it, so a lot of the detail is off, and the rock in the front is a total cop-out, but I spent most of my time trying to get the water semi-right)

I opened my package from BTSSB today and, silly me, I seriously almost cried at how pretty the stuff was inside. Everything about them fills me with glee. Oh, BABY, I love you! I'm so looking forward to the store opening in SF next month!
... I've been wanting a pagoda parasol like this for YEARS. I also got a folding parasol for when I travel (cause the full-size suckers do NOT fit in luggage.)
I keep thinking that I am going to "get over" lolita fashion, and I have been enjoying more styles lately... but stuff like this will always slay me, I think.

Imogen Heap has a new album, Ellipse, coming out in August and I WANT IT NOW. *pouts*
There are a couple of newer tracks of hers from this upcoming album spattered about the internets, and they are all very pretty.
Also: I saw Half Blood Prince with my mum yesterday. Soooooo good.
HBP is, IMO, the best book in the series so it's hardly surprising. :3 |
